Introduction

Hello. My name is Eric Hanson and this is my blog where I’ll be talking about my journey to hopefully becoming a professional writer of fiction. A little bit about me. I’m a college graduate with a deep passion for the narrative arts, and have been wanting to work in storytelling since I was ten years old. The fantastic has always, well, fascinated me, so stories of swords, sorcery, space and monsters have always been on my mind, and now that I’m out of college I have the opportunity to put them to words.

So far the main focus of this blog has been the struggle to complete and publish my first novel, the fantasy adventure Never Heroes which tells of the misadventures of a red dragon who while on a quest to reclaim a lost piece of treasure, is roped into an adventure beyond even his wildest expectations. It is the first in a planned series of four books, and on this page you will received regular writing updates, concept art and illustration work, as well as news on how the search for an agent is going.

Never Heroes is the passion project for me, as it is the summation of just about every one of my favorite things to be found in creative fiction. A story that has been in my heart since I got out of high school, it has grown up along with me, becoming a major part of my life and keeping me afloat whenever the times get bad.

But that’s not all we’re going to have here. There are many other stories we’re going to try for dealing wit things from werewolves to sea monsters to. We also have many other things to share from script samples to short stories, even short films from my days as a college student.

But I couldn’t have done this journey alone. Over the last few years I’ve had the unending support of some very dear (and very talented) friends and family that have provided detailed feedback, concept art and illustrations to make sure this work is the best it can possibly be.

My trusted partner/critic and katana wielding cousin Cullen McCurdy, who has his own blog you can follow at this link.

Creature designer and fellow monster buff David Spada, who runs the awesome Monster Legacy blog for all your creature needs.

And Joseph Buehrer, a fellow OSU graduate who is responsible for our impressive illustrations, and has plenty of other works for you to check out on his art page.

Welcome to my journey as a writer.

  1. I look forward to making my way through this world! Because I have such little experience with fantasy, I look forward to diving into a new, unique and different world, and hope that one day I can build such a world.

Thanks for sharing this story with us, and thank you for following my own blog. Best wishes on your work!
